Some really good days training gone in so far this week. Pretty sore right now after a hard hypertrophy based weights session last night – DOMS seemed to kick in late morning today right before erg session number 1 – perfect timing!
Lets rewind to yesterday:-
A lunch time session after teaching in the morning. Felt pretty good after last week but the pace was compromised within the first 10 minutes of a 60 minute piece. Still the training was good and some nice metres to start the week off.
Then into session 2 which was weights. Had a training partner which was great as I needed the flow of the session to keep the intensity and enjoyed a strong session. Like I said above, pretty bloody sore now!
Today was another double session, infact it was a triple session really. -Q- emailed last night to amend the schedule slightly due to the days lost last week and from being so sedentary for 4 days meant a drop in blood volume – it showed on Mondays hr capped row. A quick fix solution was to throw in some 1 minute pieces (this is in preparation for some team gas exchange testing on Saturday). As they say – it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Looked good on paper but after a 10km piece and a few minutes rest I had to crack on with 9×1 minute efforts on 1 minute rests.
The 10km was pretty sluggish and the 9×1 were, well they were what they were! Much slower than expected but they were there to do a job and an average of 1.30.8 told the lonely story. I remember after rep 3 thinking, ‘I have not missed this!’.
A spot of lunch and then into session 2 (or 3, depending how you look at it). Around 11km this time at a more comfortable rate 20 and 75%.
Tomorrow some more distance and a 30 minute piece which I tell you now wont be fast but as they say at Q Power “it’s just training”.
Cheers.
