Improvise, Adapt and Overcome – Faster than I thought.

23 September 2013

Some positive developments over the weekend and some chatting with the coach resulted in a more upbeat mood this morning. Quieter at work so on with a double session (whilst being protective with my back injury problems).

First up a short UT2 piece with the usual rate cap of 18 and 70% HRR.  Back was tightening all the time in the last rep so saw it out and called it a day to stretch out.

Session two in the late afternoon and I wanted to have a blast (albeit a cautious blast) so bought tomorrows piece forward and cracked on with the usual 5km warm up and then set up for the 6x1min [1 rest] piece.

Completely lacking confidence and understanding of where my pace is at the moment I set off and tried to keep it fluid. Sets 1-4 were done too conservatively for the session to have its desired training effect but at least it was a good blast out and a marker for next time.
