This week team mate Shirley Godkin and I are going head to head to spur each other on through each session. Tonight I hit the half way mark and completed a latter than usual UT1 type piece at home.
The humidity this week is making things tough, even though it is recovery week at Q-Power with the volumes lower, the stickiness in the air is causing some horrid breathing issues. This was the case for Monday mornings 30 min best effort training piece which resulted in saving the row with a mere 10 minutes gone and at the half way point was bordering survival mode. 80% humidity and setting off on PB pace was the issue for me here – I limped through the line over 2 secs per 500m down on PB pace and in agony.
There was salvation in a decent Monday afternoon weights session before hitting some distance on Tuesday. An attempted robbery of my 2 fans mid row and some arguing made the UT2 work much more entertaining – the arguing after was not so pleasant.
Tomorrow is a light distance day with the Q-Power monthly 2km TT still looming. I am definitely going to play safe with this one if the humidity reading is still high, I know all to well what happens with a poor condition and over paced row …..
Great news today on the announcement of the 2013 British Championships to be held in Wales in December. Another major event on the journey to Boston 2014 and it will be around the time we are starting to put some speed in the legs so will be nice to have a run out against some fast boys.
