Today was time for my 2km behind closed doors re run.
Not much to say really apart from this has restored confidence and I have gained much needed experience of the dynamics of a 2k.
We had 2 plans:-
Plan A – Drive for the sub 6.10 as planned for last Thursdays race.
Plan B – Be slightly more conservative, re store confidence and take a PB.
We opted for plan B.
I dropped the cruise pace slightly with the plan being I would have more left for the final push. I was nervous in the middle 1km unknown of what was around the corner and slightly scarred from last Thursdays debacle.
However was absolutely delighted to hit the last 500m in terrific shape. Finished in full control with no theatrics, limited lactic build up, stood up immediately and checked the monitor.
5km cool down, job done.
In hindsight I started the push maybe 60-70 metres too late and started full throttle 50-60 metres too late as I accelerated through the line. Like I said massive experience taken from this one and a big tick in the box.
We move on, tomorrow business as usual, next stop the Welsh Championships.
