Today’s row was a simple 30 minute piece with an open hr. It was not a TT but if I felt the urge to push on a bit and get a PB then I was allowed – I felt the urge!
To be fair I have never done a real 30 min TT, so not got a PB to my name. Last week I rowed a 1.44.0 as a training piece and this week that was my target (or one of them). The pieces are designed as open hr training pieces and Q told me last week that it is not a TT (yea righto!).
I set off on a 3km warm up with just one extended burst of pace required for a few minutes before a few minutes rest then into the TT – erm I mean training piece.
As expected, a long and tedious time watching the minutes count down. Rowed a lot of it by feel and tried not to focus on the screen too much and just took a peak every few strokes checking SPM and pace. Never buried myself but just focused on efficiency and consistency and worked hard. Looking at the splits below I think my ‘cruise’ pace was slightly to tame and is something to look at next time.
