A tiring few days training. The 90 min drive home was probably the hardest part of the week so far.
Lets go back to yesterday:-
A double session. first up was 12km in the morning before into teaching. Pace was good and pretty strong and fluid. A big lunch and a few hours break before into session 2 which was 15km (or just over). This one was not so fluid and was bloody hard graft even when the pace dropped to stay in the hr zone. Contradicting my last blog I didn’t refuel enough in the day and suffered badly in the latter parts of the afternoon row.
Played catch up in evening and before bed eating well and got an early night.
This morning up at 0500 to teach early and then into a distance piece. 23km later I was done, but another hard grafting row. Pace was better this time but I would have preferred the pace to be slow as its easier on the local muscle strain which by now was suffering. However safe in the knowledge that is the final stages of these rows that force the adaptations, I ploughed on and got the job done.
Some lunch and 3 hours later it was back into the gym for a 5km warm up with some bursts and then 500m to finish of the 2012/2013 Challenge Series League.
I asked myself if a pb was on. I decided no with the distance in my legs and as I was struggling to climb stairs. Getting in and out of my office chair was even producing some bizarre noises, so settled for a best effort to get some final points on the board.
I set off and kept it as fluid and long as possible and found myself on 1.20 pace. So I held it, held it some more, held it a bit more and crossed the line with a new PB. That’ll do!
More distance tomorrow – funny old thing!
