Wow – another week flown by already and another good weeks training in the bag.
With last week’s slight frustration worrying about splits, I came up with a plan mid week (I know some of you do this anyway) and decided to cover up the screen showing the pace. This is because at the moment I am purely focusing on training in the correct zone. I left the metres, stroke rate and HR showing and rowed purely of instinct and HR (strictly capped at 145) with surprising results.
Yesterdays and today’s row were significantly faster (screen covered) than Monday and Tuesdays row (screen on show). First interval is now down to 1.56 and then slips slightly on the 2nd and 3rd interval. A big improvement on around 2.03 3 weeks ago and 1.59/2.00 the beginning of the week.
2 weights sessions – 1 at 80% the other at 90% has given me slight DOMS so time to rest, eat and recover. Got in a power session Wednesday morning and have decided my clean is not as good as I thought, so am looking to improve technique over the next few weeks. My weight as last week hovered around the top end of 96kg.
Good luck to those racing in Wales. There are 2 big Royal Navy lads racing in the 30-39 who should go around 6.16 so best of luck to them especially – don’t go too fast boys as I have much catching up to do!
