Got the green light from Q this morning to do a 30 min light row at 70% HRR (144). Thought i would go rate 20 rather than 18 just to make it a 30r20 for no reason in particular.
HR collection data failed last night as i lost signal after 3 hours. Didn’t go lower than 43 BPM (resting HR should be 38) and was quite interesting to see the spikes where i toss and turn. I lost data when i got up to go to the toilet and it didn’t pick it up again after – will try again tonight.
So had a nice day relaxing and even managed to lay down and watch a film with Mrs O earlier and then into the row. Was looking forward to it all day (it’s amazing what a few days of feeling crap and unable to train does to you) and went out to the garage around 4pm for a 1500m warm up. Wasn’t convinced in the warm up i was going to be particularly fast as i felt out of breath pretty quick. However, set of at a good pace making sure i kept to the 144 HR cap and really enjoyed concentrating on efficiency and sitting up well with a good leg drive and fast hands.
Funny how rate 20 feels quick having done a fair bit of rate 18! Pace understandably slowed after about 7-8 minutes but finished with a 1.55.9 split at rate 20.
More than happy as i was expecting to be a lot slower and feel absolutely fine and well rested.
Have OD’d on carbs over the last few days. Really should have eaten better food (protein and fats) when feeling poorly but it’s to easy to eat crap! Will get a grip of food this weekend and should be back in force again next week.
Waiting to hear from the boss tonight as to what he wants me to do training wise tomorrow. I have told him i feel fine and am good to go – this could bite me in the arse if he wants me to get in the Q Power regular torture row (even though technically i have just done a 30r20)! That said i reckon i would be on for an ok time if that’s the case.
We will wait and see …..
