Well this is not ideal.
5 weeks out from the World Championships and I have missed training over Christmas due to illness and now this week my back has decided to let me down once again. On Tuesday I stopped mid session with tightness across my hips before it went into lock down – the usual story.
At the rate I am going racing in Boston seems a joke. Making it to the start line in one piece and in any sort of race condition seems a long shot. Having all the desire and determination to put the work in and perform is all very well but when you simply can’t due to the body letting you down it becomes extremely frustrating and testing.
However some magic chiropractic work mid week thanks to http://www.essentialchiropractic.co.uk/ put me right and today I got back on the erg. No time to waste so straight in with some speed work and with the back behaving I managed to force my body through a tough set of 750’s. Pace irrelevant for now, it’s all about asking the body to adapt and asking my back to stay with me and not let me down.
Although I have been feeling down over the past few days as once again I sat on the side lines with the rest of the team thrashing themselves through some brutal sessions I try to remain positive and take what I can. I am certainly missing some luck and good fortune somewhere along the lines but will continue to fight.
Both boxes ticked for today. 1 day at a time ……
