Even though I haven’t done much training over the past few weeks, yesterday and Fridays red sessions took it out of me so today was an option of a steady 8km or rest – I decided to rest. Also it is my boy’s 4th birthday party so I have had a house full of kids high on cake!
After yesterdays poor showing in pace on the 500’s I had an option to feel demoralised and slow. I had time to reflect on things that evening and understood that putting the body under such stress is enough to make it change. Providing I can remain fit I must be patient and just keep grinding away when I can and give it my all. Day by day remember?
With the team performing 2km TT’s next week I have decided to get down to Newquay next Saturday for the Cornish Championships and grab some more experience before the Worlds. I have absolutely no idea on pace at the moment but will have a chat with Q before the end of the week. To be honest it will just be a nice training piece but under race conditions and in a training week so the main aim will be the preparation, warm up and then just pulling a 2k. Then after that another 3 weeks work and a taper before Boston although the way things are going I might not need the same taper that the team will take. Anyway I’ll let some else worry about that, my job is simply to remain fit and able to row then just follow instructions – simples.
Back on the red tomorrow, it would be nice to see some improvements but will remember the above comments
