I didn’t know what to expect to be honest. But it’s got me thinking
How fast can I go, doing what I am doing?
Back in the day I was pretty tasty (5th at the 2013 World Championships if you’re asking). And my PB for the 6x1min [1r] was 1.27 something. That was at 6.07 2k form. But it’s a poor correlation.
Yesterday’s session saw 1.32 something. Pretty decent to be fair on just 1 rowing session a week, intervals, post weight training too. Zero cardio work. F**k that!
I used to row 100k+ a week at volume. Low intensity, base building, aerobic conditioning. That was all year round before 10-12 weeks race prep kicked in.
But now i’m intrigued.
10 years older. Living like a d*ck for many of the past few years, multiple ongoing injuries, only weight training 3-4 times a week and popping in 1 interval rowing session after weights once a week. How fast can I go? (Over 2k).
I mean, I can’t believe I have actually considered this tbh! Let alone write it on a blog accessible to the world!
But I’m just intrigued. Thinking out loud.
Anyway, chat soon.
Coach OO.
