Looking for my lungs – Fitness Matters WOD

10 September 2015

Today I trained at http://fitnessmatters.me.uk/ with a few other lads where we tackled the WOD which was pretty brutal to be honest, no matter what your fitness, providing you attack it right – which we all did! Certainly the longest I have rowed in quite some time and my aerobic ability was once again nonexistent as I tapped into my anaerobic side far too early on. That produced plenty of lactic in the legs around 500m into the first rep of 750m and it was pretty much an uphill struggle from there on.

Pacing plan went out the window during that first rep and it was then just a case of feeling my way through each rep counting the strokes down and not looking at the screen too much. The other boys had established a considerable gap by the end of the first set and I tried to blank out anything they were doing and concentrate in my own little bubble of unable to breath properly and burning non functioning quads – Oh yea it was legs day yesterday, I should have got that one in early and to be fair should have moaned about it a bit more during the rest periods which became quieter and quieter as the reps moved on!

Managed a little squeeze in the last few reps and gave what I could, but that was after seeing some 1.37’s and 1.38’s in previous reps. Came in at 1.36.0.

To be honest I was pleased to have just finished in a respectable time as my fitness continues to grow and grow. Still a million miles off anything that’s a semi decent 2k but this one should move me on quite well and I’ll row again probably on Sunday.

Same again next week boys?
