Repetition and habit – 4 x 2km

15 December 2012

Last session of the week today and am back to feeling like a bit of progress has been made – even if it is just psychological giving me that kick start into this next 6 weeks of work.

Q once said to me “missing one session isn’t going to make any difference in the grand scheme of things looking at the long term plan.  The reason we try not to miss sessions is because one session becomes two and two becomes three.  Habit and repetition is broken and before you know it you end up picking and choosing when to train.”

I was never not going to train this week as I am already playing catch up for the last few weeks and the sessions missed over November, but it was nice to finish 4 consecutive sessions as programmed ready for next Monday and the start of a full week.

So into a 5km warm up with bursts then into a 4 x 2km rate capped at 24 and a hr of 85%.

Not to much to report, a little slower than when I last did this back in August/September (I only know that from looking now).  Wasn’t bothered on pace just wanted the session strict at rate 24 and 85%.

One thing I have noticed is a small amount of DOMS in upper back from a few days of low rate including today which requires a decent drive.

Finished fine as the pace bled off to keep the hr in the correct zone.  Cool down was a mere 3 minutes as I had to shower and grab some food as I was whisked out the door quick time, not shopping this time but the usual daily hospital visit to see Carley’s mum – hope to be out by Christmas, fingers crossed.
