Not too much to report today – lovely weather here in the West Country, about bloody time too. I burnt my head yesterday erging outside followed by a lesson in the sun – today I stayed inside with the company of the fan.
A really early start at 4am after a disturbed nights sleep. This was always going to test my motivation as I felt shattered all morning teaching. A short window of opportunity was scheduled in around mid morning so got on with it and headed in for a warm up.
18km (3×6) [2r] with some 2k pace bursts thrown in which felt quite nice. The main pace of the piece was good too but I was seriously hauling anchor to get the hr up – felt a lot of local muscle fatigue, more so in the first set when the pace was fast to bring the hr up.
I lay down in the sun for a few minutes after 1) to stretch my back and 2) I was shattered!
Food was good today plus I have sold my soul to the devil and ordered some supplements for the first time in years. I am having problems fuelling myself enough with training and work being active. Often I struggle for energy mid row and don’t feel I am recovering correctly. A carb and protein mix around 500 cal a shake should help twice a day. Also the benefit of some amino’s and glutamine etc to help recovery and push some muscle growth where possible.
On Tuesday I was back down to 98.9kg (from 100.7kg) last week – possibly (hopefully) some fluid loss when I weighed in but a lack of weight training last week and this weeks stopped session (back issues) hasn’t helped. It’s time to supplement for sure as I feel I fit the criteria of not able to get enough from foods.
A 30 min best effort training piece feeling fatigued should be interesting tomorrow.
Did someone say it’s the official start of the Indoor Rowing season today?!
Early night tonight, chow.
EDIT – My official World Ranking for the 2012/2013 season is 14th (Men’s Hwt 30-39) http://log.concept2.com/get_wrankings.asp
