Like the title says, yesterday i decided i can actually call myself a rower! Out in a coxed 4 for 2 hrs of drills rowing as a 4 and progressing really well.
Best of all it is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon at work! And the sun was shining!
Still plenty of issues and was still sometimes a bit wobbly but what an improvement from last week. Gliding up and down the river even put in some higher rate work which i actually found more stable and a great buzz when the boat reacts to a bit of power you put through the blade.
Feathering is coming more natural now and as the session progressed i relaxed more and it all came together easier. Tried to concentrate on sitting tall. Back was sore after and i know i was back and arms for a lot of it especially if i was behiind on a stroke and was playing catch up. Need to find the power through the feet like i do when OTE.
Sometimes hard putting it all together especially when we stopped and de briefed the piece to set off again with something els to think about and then the basics go out the window! My small brain overloaded!
Mainly concentrated on depth of blade and when it was on it felt lovely and smooth – i know what im feeling for it just needs a lot of repetition.
Caught 2 crabs luckly at low rate so managed to lean back out the way quickly – wouldnt like that to happen at high rate – i’m sure it will!
Other news-
Went out in a light weight double on Wednesday. Nearly sank it and snapped the boat where the rigger attaches itself! This was after about 10 pathetic horrible strokes!
Went in and did 2x6k on the erg in the boat house in anger!
Resting today and heading to London for work.
Back to the grind stone tomorrow, weights and 18k.
