What happened to next day delivery?

3 May 2013

Still struggling with daily life and fitting in the training but I finish the week happy and on a high.  Plenty to criticise and work on though – mainly my nutrition (again). Still waiting on my supplements – next day delivery, erm what happened there then?

Pretty poor in planning this morning and struggled in the latter parts of this mornings training piece.  I wanted to do another 30 minutes or so but literally couldn’t as my energy stores said no, even at a low intensity.

Rewind to Thursday and a nice 30 minute training piece to start the morning off.  Went into the gym for a warm up and and really wasn’t sure where I stood or how mentally strong I was feeling – to tell the truth I didn’t fancy it but convinced myself that in the worst case scenario I could paddle home keeping the hr up and take the adaptations.

It turned into a really nice piece as I set off and held a rhythm.  I spent longer more nervous in the row thinking that the bite was coming any time soon. It didn’t come though and I sat on threshold hr for the majority and when it sneaked over I continued to hold the rhythm well.

When it came to the last 5 minutes I took the rate up a fraction and let the pace come with it.  No sprinting just a long stroke from the legs (which incidentally had 100km in them at this point so were pretty tired!).

The afternoon was weight training time.

I decided to hit the pushing and pulling upper body compound moves first in the work out and see how the legs were feeling at the end.  2 sets of squats confirmed what I already knew and moved onto a safer front squat on the Smiths machine for 2 light sets.

2 sets of deadlifts were enough too as I felt I was risking putting a tired bod through a vulnerable move.

The upper body work to start with was nice though and got a good pump on.

Onto today and an early start teaching set me up for an 18km mid morning at 70% hr cap.  Like I said before I wanted to do more but will take the positives and accept it is another hour or so in the legs. You can see from the splits that it was the end of the week.

Rest day tomorrow, a nice week complete.

Distance rowed this week – 130km.
