It’s been a decent week spent tapering ready to race at Bristol on Saturday. Mainly I have been looking for experience in the taper, how I am feeling, travel (tomorrow), warm ups, race starts, mental preparation etc all which will be vital for races to come.
This will be my 10th competition race at venue on Saturday and I feel suitably prepared on what to expect. Last season we spoke about racing as opposed to time trialling (TTing) on a race day and without changing that theory I still have an element of TTing to achieve come race day. i.e. my best possible performance.
I have ideas of what I think I am physically capable of pulling and on the right day will achieve that. As for Saturday some experience, enjoyment and satisfaction are top of the list. Mentally I feel solid and have a race plan which (on the right day) will involve a decent attack but will see how it feels on the day and then go from there.
Will be nice to relax with the team on Saturday night – did I mention it’s my birthday at the weekend too?!
