Before You Read This Book, There’s One Thing I Want You To Know

24 July 2026

This was never about writing a book. It was about helping people understand themselves differently.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve shared why I wrote The High Performance Operator, who it’s for and what I hope it might change.

This Sunday, the book will finally be released.

It’s a strange feeling.

For so long it has existed as blogs, notes, stories, lessons and ideas that lived in my head or on countless pages scattered across my desk. Soon, it will belong to whoever chooses to read it.

Before that happens, there’s one thing I want you to know.

Not about the book.

About you.

If you’ve ever found yourself looking in the mirror and quietly wondering …

What changed?

If you’ve ever thought …

“I know exactly what I should be doing … so why can’t I seem to do it anymore?”

If you’ve ever felt frustrated that everything seems to take more effort than it used to …

Please know this.

There is nothing wrong with you.

You are not broken.

You haven’t suddenly become lazy.

You haven’t permanently lost the person you used to be.

Life leaves a mark on all of us.

Careers become more demanding.

Families grow.

Responsibilities accumulate.

Stress compounds.

Sleep suffers.

Recovery becomes something you’ll get around to “when things calm down.”

Without ever making a conscious decision, your own health quietly slips further and further down the priority list.

Not because you stopped caring.

Because you kept showing up for everything and everyone else.

Over time, those small compromises begin to accumulate.

At first you barely notice.

Then your energy isn’t quite what it used to be.

Training becomes inconsistent.

The weight starts creeping on.

Your patience shortens.

Your confidence changes.

You still perform.

You still meet deadlines.

You still fulfil your responsibilities.

But everything feels just a little bit harder than it used to.

For years, I believed this was simply part of getting older.

Then I started asking a different question.

What changed?

That single question changed the direction of my life.

It led me to understand that health isn’t separate from performance.

Health determines capacity.

And capacity determines how we think, lead, recover, connect with others and ultimately perform.

That realisation became the foundation of Warrior Wellness Movement

It also became the foundation of this book.

I haven’t written it to tell you how to live.

I haven’t written it because I think I’ve got all the answers.

I’ve written it because I’ve lived through many of the same questions you might be asking yourself.

I’ve experienced the frustration of watching my own health decline.

I’ve known what it feels like to lose confidence in my own body.

I’ve spent years trying to understand why some people continue to thrive under pressure while others slowly lose themselves without even realising it’s happening.

Everything I’ve learned is contained within these pages.

Not as theory.

Not as motivation.

But as an explanation.

An explanation that I hope helps you see yourself with a little more compassion and a lot more clarity.

There’s one passage in the book that captures what I hope every reader takes away:

“Life is supposed to change us. Life is supposed to teach us and life is supposed to leave a mark. The challenge is making sure those experiences leave wisdom rather than bitterness.”

If, somewhere within these pages, you recognise yourself …

If you stop blaming yourself for where you are today …

If you begin to understand how you got there …

Then I hope you’ll also realise something even more important.

You are not finished.

Your health can improve.

Your capacity can grow.

You can become stronger than you are today.

Not by becoming the person you were twenty years ago.

But by becoming the healthiest, most capable version of the person you are now.

That is what I hope happens when you reach the final page.

Not that you close the book feeling motivated.

But that you close it understanding yourself differently.

For that reason, writing The High Performance Operator was never really about writing a book.

It was about helping people realise that improvement is still possible.

This Sunday, that journey leaves my desk and begins on yours.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has followed this journey, encouraged me along the way and supported Warrior Wellness Movement over the years.

If this book helps just one person stop blaming themselves and start understanding themselves, then every hour spent writing it will have been worthwhile.

I hope you’ll join me on Sunday as The High Performance Operator is finally released. (Available on Amazon.)
