I can’t give you more hours in the day. But I can help you get more from the hours you already have.
“I haven’t got time.”
I hear it constantly.
No time to train nor time to prepare decent food.
No time to switch off nor time to look after yourself.
And when somebody tells me that, I’m increasingly convinced that time isn’t actually the problem.
NOW FOR MY MAGIC TRICK…
I can buy you back time.
Yep.
You heard that right.
Unfortunately, I haven’t discovered a way of adding a 25th hour to the day.
What I can help you build is capacity.
And there’s a big difference.
YOU PROBABLY HAVE MORE TIME THAN YOU THINK
Most busy professionals aren’t sitting around with hours of unused time.
I understand that.
Work is demanding. Families need us. Responsibilities increase as we get older.
But when somebody tells me they don’t have 30 minutes to exercise, I don’t immediately assume their diary is the problem.
Often, they’re knackered.
They finish work with nothing left.
The thought of getting changed and going to the gym feels like another demand.
Cooking properly feels harder than ordering something.
Even things they know will make them feel better get pushed to tomorrow.
So they conclude:
“I haven’t got time.”
But what they often mean is:
“I haven’t got enough left in me to do it.”
That’s a capacity problem.
CAPACITY CHANGES WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR DAY
Think about how different life feels when you’ve slept properly, you’re physically fit, eating well and generally feel good.
You don’t suddenly have more hours.
But things require less effort.
You think more clearly. You have more energy. Training doesn’t feel like an impossible addition to the day and you’re more likely to have something left for your family and yourself when work finishes.
The clock hasn’t changed.
Your ability to operate within it has.
THERE’S A POSITIVE CYCLE HERE
This is the part people often miss.
You build enough capacity to find the energy and headspace for that 30 minute training session.
That training improves your fitness, strength and health.
Those improvements increase your capacity further.
Suddenly the healthy behaviours you previously “didn’t have time for” become easier to sustain.
Not because life stopped being busy.
Because you became better equipped to handle it.
THIS IS WHAT HIGH PERFORMANCE MEANS TO ME
It’s one of the central ideas behind The High Performance Operator and the work we do at Warrior Wellness Movement.
High performance isn’t simply about doing more at work.
It’s about having the physical, mental and emotional capacity to perform well across your life.
Your career matters.
So does having the energy to play with your children.
To train.
To enjoy your weekend rather than spend it recovering from the week.
To remain physically capable as you get older.
To actually enjoy some of what you’re working so hard to create.
Health Creates Capacity. Capacity Drives Performance.
And when capacity improves, something interesting happens.
It can feel like you’ve bought yourself time.
SO THE NEXT TIME YOU SAY IT…
When you hear yourself saying:
“I haven’t got time.”
Don’t immediately reach for the diary.
Ask yourself:
Do I genuinely not have the time … or do I no longer have the capacity to use it?
Those are two very different problems.
And they require two very different solutions.
If you’d like me to teach this thinking to you or your workforce, get in touch.
And if you’d rather start by reading about it, I explore the philosophy in much greater depth in The High Performance Operator.
Because you probably don’t need another productivity hack.
You need the health and capacity to make better use of the life you’ve already got.
