The Monday Blues Aren’t Your Problem. They’re Your Warning Sign.

7 September 2026

You don’t need another productivity hack. You need to understand why Monday feels so difficult in the first place.

This isn’t another article telling you how to beat the Monday blues.

There’s plenty of advice out there already.

Wake up at 5am.

Journal.

Meditate.

Cold plunge.

Drink your own p …. (seriously, i’ve seen it!)

Sort your morning routine out.

Apparently, if you can just squeeze all of that in before 7am, Monday will be wonderful.

I’m not convinced.

Because if you’re a professional, business owner or senior leader, you probably don’t need somebody on LinkedIn telling you what you should be doing.

You already know.

The more interesting question is:

Why has Monday become something you need to beat in the first place?

Maybe Monday isn’t the problem

If you regularly dread Sunday evening…

Wake up exhausted on Monday…

Spend the week surviving…

Live for Friday…

Then use the weekend to recover enough to start again…

I’d suggest Monday isn’t your problem.

It’s your warning sign.

Something else isn’t working.

Maybe you’re carrying too much.

Maybe your health has gradually moved down the priority list.

Maybe you’re permanently tired.

Maybe work consumes far more of you than it used to.

Or perhaps you’ve been doing it for so long that you’ve simply accepted this is what life feels like now.

That’s the part I’d pay attention to.

I spent years looking at problems too narrowly

Earlier in my life, my answer to most things was fairly predictable.

More structure.

More discipline.

Try harder.

Crack on.

If something wasn’t working, I’d attack the problem directly.

It took me a long time to realise that sometimes the thing you’re trying to fix isn’t actually the problem.

One of the recurring themes throughout The High Performance Operator is accumulation.

Health and performance rarely fall apart because of one terrible week.

It’s hundreds of small compromises, repeated for months or years.

Eventually, you feel the consequences without really understanding where they came from.

Zoom out

Forget this Monday for a moment.

Think about the next five or ten years.

What sort of health will you need for the life you’re trying to build?

What sort of energy will your work require?

What will your family need from you?

And when you picture yourself five or ten years from now, are your current choices taking you towards that person or further away?

That’s a far more useful conversation than trying to engineer the perfect Monday morning.

It’s also fundamental to how we think at Warrior Wellness Movement.

Health Creates Capacity. Capacity Drives Performance.

Sustainable performance isn’t created by having a better Monday.

It’s created by building a life that doesn’t require you to recover from every week.

So tomorrow morning, perhaps don’t ask yourself how you’re going to survive another Monday.

Ask yourself why it feels like something you need to survive at all.

And if you want to explore more of the thinking behind this, it’s a theme that runs throughout The High Performance Operator.

But for now, one question:

Are you trying to fix your Mondays … or are you finally ready to fix the life that’s creating them?

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.
