If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and wondered where the old version of you went, this book is for you.
While writing The High Performance Operator, I realised something that surprised me.
I wasn’t writing a health book.
I wasn’t writing a fitness book.
And I certainly wasn’t writing a book for elite performers.
I was writing for people who kept asking themselves the same quiet questions.
“What changed?”
“Why can’t I seem to do what used to come naturally?”
“How did I end up feeling like this?”
Those questions aren’t limited to one profession, background or gender.
I’ve heard them from business owners, senior leaders, emergency service personnel, military veterans, parents, professionals and people who simply feel they’ve drifted away from the person they used to be.
Different lives.
Different responsibilities.
The same story.
Most don’t feel they need another diet.
Or another training programme.
Or another productivity system.
What they’re really looking for is an explanation.
Not for why they failed.
But for why something that once felt straightforward gradually became so difficult.
That’s the book I found myself writing.
Not a book about becoming someone new.
A book about understanding what happened to the person you already were.
One passage in the manuscript captures that idea particularly well.
“Most people aren’t trying to become a better version of themselves. They’re trying to find their way back to a version of themselves they thought they’d lost.”
That sentence stayed with me long after I wrote it.
Because I don’t think it’s really about health.
It’s about identity.
It’s about recognising yourself less and less as the years pass.
It’s about feeling capable on the outside while quietly wondering why everything seems to require more effort than it used to.
It’s about looking in the mirror and knowing something has changed, even if you can’t quite explain what it is.
Those are the conversations that shaped Warrior Wellness Movement.
Long before there was a book, there were conversations with people who felt confused by their own decline.
Not dramatic decline.
Gradual decline.
The kind that slips into your life so slowly that it eventually becomes normal.
The High Performance Operator grew naturally from those conversations.
Not because I wanted to tell people how to live.
But because I wanted to help them understand what they were experiencing.
If you’ve ever found yourself saying…
“I know what I should be doing.”
“I’ll get back to it when life settles down.”
“I just don’t feel like the person I used to be.”
…then I suspect you’ll recognise parts of your own story in these pages.
The book is released next week on Amazon.
Over the coming days, I’ll continue sharing some of the ideas and experiences that shaped it.
Not because I want to tell you what’s in the book.
But because I hope you’ll begin to see why so many people have told me, “It feels like you’ve written this about me.”
So I’ll leave you with one question.
Have you ever looked back and realised you weren’t trying to become someone new… you were simply trying to find your way back to who you used to be?
If that question resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
And if you’re interested, follow the final stages of the journey as we count down to publication.
